Joe Corrado, Jr. is the CEO of Corrado Construction Company. He is responsible for providing vision and strategic direction for the company, maintaining and reinforcing the corporate culture, leading the executive and management teams, and overseeing decisions regarding the organization’s capital expenditures. Under Joe’s leadership, Corrado Construction has grown into one of the most successful civil site work contractors in the region.
Joe is a third generation site work contractor, raised in the construction companies founded by his grandfather in 1945 and later run by his father and uncle. Initially, Joe worked in the field as a laborer and in the office as an assistant, gradually working his way into roles of increasing responsibility until he left for college in 1995.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Construction Science and Management from Clemson University in 1999, Joe took a position as an Estimator/Project Manager with Strange Brothers Grading, Inc., one of the largest civil construction companies in South Carolina. In addition to his regular responsibilities, Joe worked with Strange Brothers in developing and updating its estimating, project management and cost tracking software and systems.
Joe returned to Delaware in 2001 and became involved with Triad Construction (a fledgling predecessor to Corrado Construction). Since Corrado Construction was established in 2006, Joe has been involved at every level, including the management of field and office operations, business development and estimating, project management, health and safety, and quality and cost control. Joe handpicked his management team to fully develop the company’s potential, refining and updating the company’s policies, procedures and systems. Working closely with his management team, Joe introduced the technologies and techniques for estimating, scheduling, cost tracking, project and contract management, and quality control that regularly exceed the expectations of Corrado Construction’s clients – both past and present.
Today, Joe still provides oversight of every aspect of his company from business development to contract closeout. Every estimate is priced with and approved by Joe before submission. Joe conducts progress meetings with his project management team on each project. Now that he has the personnel, systems, policies and procedures in place, Joe maintains a “Continual Improvement Process” with feedback from clients, peers, and personnel to ensure the continuing efficiency, effectiveness and flexibility of his organization.
In addition to leading CCC, Joe serves on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the Delaware Contractors Association (DCA) and is currently the Chair of the Public Relations and Membership Committee.
