Dover, DE – April 1, 2015 – Delaware SkillsUSA Grand Awards Ceremony – which consisted of almost 900 students, judges, sponsors and parents from a variety of technical schools throughout Delaware – was held at the Modern Maturity Center in Dover. Two of those students, Michael Compton and Eric Pearlman proudly received 1st place awards for their participation and great efforts in the TeamWorks category. Michael and Eric, from St. Georges Technical High School, are part of Corrado Construction’s Co-Op program.
Delaware SkillsUSA is a Career and Technical Student Organization that helps ensure that America has a skilled and trained workforce. The TeamWorks category consists of teams of four students who are required to build a construction project over the course of three days that demonstrates the ability of the students to work together as a team by using carpentry, electrical, plumbing and masonry skills. The teams are judged on building codes, jobsite safety, correct ordering of materials, proper use of tools and much more. SkillsUSA is a great way for students to compete in their field and work on their skills for the future.
Upon their graduation in May, Michael and Eric will remain with Corrado as “Green Hats”. They will head to Louisville, KY June 22-26, 2015, for the 51st Annual National Leadership and Skills Conference (NLSC). We are very proud of Michael and Eric and wish them the best in the competition.
