Newark, DE – February 2, 2019 – CCC sent three volunteers to the 25th Annual Block Kids Competition, a popular event hosted by the Delaware chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction. Bubby Williams, Cyndi Mosuly and Samantha Sand comprised Team Corrado at the event.
Grouped by grade from 1st through 6th, students at Block Kids were given a set of materials and one hour to assemble something related to construction. Then the kids unleashed their creativity and used exactly 100 Lego bricks, a rock, a string, a manila folder, and one sheet of aluminum foil in a multitude of inventive ways!
Kids constructed cranes, buildings, boats, soccer fields, bridges, climbing towers, homes and pools, and many more unique creations. Volunteer judges interviewed each competitor as they finished their projects, and then worked as a team to rate the children’s designs.
Governor John Carney attended the award ceremony to congratulate the kids and help NAWIC celebrate the 25th anniversary of this successful event. First and second place winners in each grade were selected, as well as overall competition winners.
Congratulations to NAWIC and all the enterprising kids who participated in this year’s Block Kids!
